Here is more on the Foundation:
In 1881 the Denver Fire Department organized its first professional fire company. In 1981, one hundred years after that first fire company was organized, Denver fire fighters created the Denver Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation as a non-profit, charitable organization.
The Denver Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation works to prevent burn injuries and to assist both burn survivors and those that care for them. In addition, the Foundation has been established to assist Denver Fire Fighters and their families during times of serious illness or injury.
The Foundation is a proud partner with Children’s Hospital Colorado Burn Unit and the University of Colorado Burn Center.
Fire fighters recognize that burn injuries are one of the worst insults that can be inflicted on the human body. Because of the nature of their jobs, professional fire fighters are often the first to come into contact with those who have suffered burn injuries. They take a personal interest in survivor treatment, rehabilitation and return to an ordinary life.
The firefighter family rarely reaches out for help. When they do the Charitable Foundation is there to help as a support group in times of need and a strong bond for the firefighter family community.
As with any non-profit organization, our ability to reach out depends on the generosity of others. We need your help. We depend solely on generous donations from individuals and corporations, fund raising activities, and the contributions of our own Denver Fire Fighters through a payroll deduction program. The Denver Fire Fighters Burn Foundation is incorporated as a non-profit charity with the State of Colorado. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
